Community Engagement Coordinator
Job Title: Community Engagement Coordinator
Reports to: Director of Volunteer Services
Location: 30th St Food Pantry and Distribution Center
Job Summary:
The Community Engagement Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the mission of St. Vincent de Paul is clearly and effectively communicated to groups, individual volunteers, and the community. They will work closely with the Director of Volunteer Services, operations staff, and lead volunteers to engage both individual volunteers and groups in supporting the daily operations of our mission. Through high levels of enthusiasm and active engagement they will work to support consistent messaging, ensuring standardized volunteer procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Represent the Mission of St. Vincent de Paul
- Foster a culture of service and commitment to our neighbors and volunteers.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with volunteers, neighbors, and staff.
- Serve as an ambassador of St. Vincent de Paul, actively embodying and promoting our mission and values.
- Uphold and protect the confidentiality of all St. Vincent de Paul information related to neighbors, customers, and volunteers.
- Lead by example, sharing expertise and offering support to those you work with.
- Create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all volunteers, ensuring a positive experience.
- Clearly communicate and explain the mission of St. Vincent de Paul to volunteers and stakeholders during tours and interactions.
2. Volunteer Management and Support
- Collaborate with operational staff and volunteer leaders to identify and plan group volunteer activities based on the organization's needs.
- Develop a solid understanding of various tasks and responsibilities within each facility to guide and direct volunteers effectively.
- Plan and organize meaningful activities for group volunteers in advance, ensuring a well-coordinated experience.
- Work with the Director of Volunteer Services to recognize and appreciate volunteers for their hard work and dedication.
- Provide attentive and visible leadership to volunteers, proactively engaging them in the work of the organization
- Help facilitate an onboarding process for new volunteers.
3. Community Engagement and Program Development
- Support Director of Volunteer Services with leading and mentoring Interns
- Assist in the creation of social media content as it relates to volunteers
- Provide support and guidance to lead volunteers and staff in special programs to ensure programing alignment with the mission of St. Vincent de Paul’s goals.
- Represent St. Vincent de Paul at community events as directed by the Director of Volunteer Services.
- Help build and maintain community partnerships through consistent messaging and organizational knowledge.
4. Facility and Organizational Support
- Communicate any concerns involving volunteers to the Director of Volunteer Services and/or the Director of Operations.
- Provide volunteers with the tools and equipment necessary to perform tasks safely and effectively.
- Understand partnerships and donations processes to assist in the smooth operation of the facility.
- Assist with cleanup and organizing after volunteer sessions to maintain a safe and functional environment.
- Support the Director of Volunteer Services with managing the Salesforce volunteer module to organize volunteer activities and other related data.
- Assist with facility operations when volunteer coordination duties are complete or as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the organization’s goals.
Job Requirements:
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to connect with people of all ages and backgrounds.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to work independently.
- Friendly and outgoing with strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs., stand for extended periods of time, navigate stairs, and good mobility throughout large facilities
- Able to travel between 30th St Food Pantry and Distribution Center.
- Experience with Salesforce or similar volunteer management system (preferred)
- Experience with Microsoft Suite.
- High school diploma or GED, required.
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Resources, or a related field (preferred).
Work Schedule:
- Full Time
- Tuesday through Saturday
- 7 am to 3 pm, some flexibility
